Dynemech Vibration Isolators Allow Installation on Mezzanines & Upper Floors

Dynemech Vibration Isolators

Allow Installation on Mezzanines & Upper Floors

As we know today that builders save cost on modern floor slabs by making them thinner and lighter and increasing column spacing. This tends to make modern composite floors flexible and oscillatory. As a result, newer buildings often do not dampen vibrations as well as older ones. Add to this the noise and vibrations transmitted from nearby construction, manufacturing, transportation systems or HVAC installations in the same buildings. Moreover, high prices of real estate in modern cities have propelled air-tight developments and compact construction which necessitate accommodation of large number of high speed production machinery, office complexes and sensitive machinery and equipments in the same buildings. Thus, mezzanine floors and upper floors are added as a cost-effective way to increase square footage not only for storage but also for production purposes. And of course, vibrations are present in all operations involving machines and motion due to inherent exciting forces. But, such excessive vibrations, may lead to structural and mechanical failures, frequent breakdown and maintenance of machines, human discomfort and noise. Hence, cost effective measures need to be taken to reduce the vibrations within acceptable limits.

DYNEMECH vibration dampeners provide lower natural frequency than the frequency of the suspended floor (generally, the natural frequency of the pads should less than half of the frequency of the suspended floor) so that resonance is avoided besides, decreasing vibration amplitudes.

Dynemech will need to know how much the machinery is shaking. Then based on the machine shaking and other factors affecting the structural vibrations, we have the task of designing the vibration isolators for the machinery to achieve the desired response on the roof.

We have successfully installed large industrial machines on mezzanine and upper floor including roof-tops:

DYNEMECH - Vibration Reduction Solutions For Power Presses

A machine press, commonly shortened to press, is a machine tool that changes the shape of a work-piece. Press working may be defined as chip less manufacturing process by which various components are made from sheet metal. This process is also called cold stamping. These process are generally carried out at room temperature. In cutting operations the work piece is stressed beyond its ultimate strength. the stress caused in metal by applied forces will be shearing stresses e.g.- blanking, piercing, trimming, shaving. Forming operations- the stresses are below the ultimate strength of metal. In these operation there is no cutting forces but only contour of work piece is changed to get the desired product. Drawing is operation of producing cylindrical or box shaped components with straight or tapered edges. In drawing the area of developed blank before drawing should be same as the surface area of metal in drawing.

All these operations on the press produce very large impact forces. These forces travel through the press frame into the foundation. The foundation produces a rebound force equal to the impact force and this travels inside the machine. These internal forces are produced by the stamping operation on a press when the press is bolted to a foundation or installed on isolators. However, the magnitude of the vibration within the press is lower when using vibration isolators. Bolting the press rigidly to a foundation subjects it to more vibration and impact force. Vibration isolators are cushions that transform a sudden shock pulse into a decaying series of longer duration forces. Imagine the force of hitting a wall with our fist. Now hitting the wall with the same energy, but with our hand in a boxing glove. It is obvious that the later hurt less! This is because the impact duration is longer, effectively reducing the impact force. Short duration impacts mean higher force.
This same thing happens on a press rigidly bolted to the foundation. The sudden release of potential energy at impact causes the press foot to slam against the foundation. This fast duration, high magnitude force hits the foundation and the foundation responds in kind, sending damaging forces back into the press. In case the press is isolated from the foundation with Dynemech passive vibration isolators, the isolators will absorb most of the impact energy of the blow. Now, the impact force at the foundation is reduced and also the rebound force transmitted by the foundation into the press machine.

Dynemech Anti Vibration Mounts for CNC Turning Centres

CNC milling machines (also called machining centres) are computer controlled vertical mills with the ability to move the spindle vertically along the Z-axis. This extra degree of freedom permits their use in die sinking, engraving applications, and 3D surfaces.

Dynemech Anti Vibration Mounts for CNC/VMC Vibration Control
CNC machines can exist in virtually any of the forms of manual machinery, like horizontal mills. The most advanced CNC milling-machines, the multi-axis machine, add two more axes in addition to the three normal axes (XYZ). Horizontal milling machines also have a C or Q axis, allowing the horizontally mounted work-piece to be rotated, essentially allowing asymmetric and eccentric turning. The fifth axis (B axis) controls the tilt of the tool itself. When all of these axes are used in conjunction with each other, extremely complicated geometries, even organic geometries such as a human head can be made with relative ease with these machines. For such highly accurate machines, proper levelling and vibration control is of utmost priority. Dynemech's Anti Vibration Mounts provide both these levelling and vibration damping properties. The Anti Vibration Mounts are also very simple to install and easy & convenient to order. These Anti Vibration mounts remove the need to make any kind of foundation for the machine, thus making maintenance and movement of the machine a trivial affair. The tool life of the machine is greatly improved because of enhanced vibration control of the machine placed on Dynemech's Anti Vibration Mounts. Even external factors like press or hammer vibrations can be effectively controlled using Dynemech's Anti Vibration Mounts.

Dynemech is the leading supplier of Anti Vibration Mounts to all kinds of CNC machine manufacturers in India and abroad. Dynemech's vibration damping products are being exported extensively to Europe, South Korea, Australia and the United States. Dynemech's engineering team provides complete guidance in proper pad selection for various different CNC machines depending on the machine specifications and external factors. They provide detailed installation notes with illustrative diagrams for correct anti vibration mount installation.

CMM Vibration Isolation

CMMs have traditionally performed the quality assurance function in labs and gage rooms off of, or away from, the production floor. Today, however, we are hearing much more discussion about putting CMMs into the factory environment. The measuring speed and accuracy of Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM's) are improving every year. Newer CMM's are being designed and built which should function with repeatability right on the production floor.

Machining, stamping and other operations produce plenty of vibration, and those processes should be floor-isolated. Still, energy can find its way into the CMM as a source of errors, so some type of vibration isolation is needed. The production floor may have presses or hammers near the CMM, which produce massive vibrations and can lead to grossly inaccurate readings on the CMM. Vibration is one environmental factor which can compromise a CMM's accuracy and repeatability. Without compromising accuracy, CMM manufacturers provide their users with the maximum levels of vibration which their machines are capable of withstanding. Ideally, if all components of a CMM, including the part to be measured, were to vibrate in unison at a specific frequency, amplitude, phase and orientation, no degradation in measured performance would result.
When isolation is required, it is typically low frequency (less than 25 Hz) vibration that requires attenuation. Dynemech Systems has over 20 years experience in vibration isolation. They are specialists in CMMs, Dynamometers, Electron Microscopes, Metrology Equipment. Dynemech’s pneumatic isolators Series DRAS and Series DLPM provide significant vibration isolation for metrology equipment requiring low frequency vibration control. Series DRAS are ideal for low-cost metrology equipment where there is no sudden loading across the table. Series DLPM are auto-levelling pneumatic isolators which can sense the load placed on the table and automatically level the table surface. Both these models are highly suitable for low frequency vibration damping.
Additionally, in case there is excessive vibration, Dynemech can also provide complete turnkey solution for the construction for an Isolated Foundation. We will provide complete engineering drawings and specifications with installation procedures. Installation supervision at the site can be handled by our team of expert engineers.

Auto-Levelling Pneumatic Vibration Isolators

Fig1: Dynemech's DLPM Pneumatic Auto-Leveling Vibration Mount.

Dynemech's DLPM Mounts are low frequency vibration isolation pneumatic mounts. These Anti-Vibration mounts have auto levelling arrangement which consists of three isolators for 3-point precision levelling. Each isolator consists of a levelling valve which is the load sensing and height controlling element. Systems are supplied with automatic height control valves, tubing and all other pneumatic accessories necessary for complete systems installation.

This finds application in passive vibration control of CMM, Surface Plates and all types of Precision Measuring & Testing Machines.

Dynemech DLPM Mounts have minimal setting time. Long setting time using pneumatic isolators is not acceptable because precision measuring and positioning machines can suffer repeatability errors and
through-put losses.

These mounts are connected to continous air-supply and keep monitoring the load at 3 points and provide necessary levelling automatically. These mounts have been designed indigeneously in India and provide precise leveling accuracies of +/- 0.15mm over 1m.

Fig2: Surface Plate on Dynemech's DLPM Pneumatic Vibration Mounts.

Dynemech's Pneumatic Leveling feet provide low frequency vibration reduction and hence are very suitable for precison CMM machines or testing machines placed on top of surface plates.

Drastic reduction in passive vibrations affecting sensitive precision machines are the advantages of Dynemech’s Pneumatic Isolators besides providing long-term safety and life for the machine.
