Dynemech Vibration Isolators Allow Installation on Mezzanines & Upper Floors

Dynemech Vibration Isolators

Allow Installation on Mezzanines & Upper Floors

As we know today that builders save cost on modern floor slabs by making them thinner and lighter and increasing column spacing. This tends to make modern composite floors flexible and oscillatory. As a result, newer buildings often do not dampen vibrations as well as older ones. Add to this the noise and vibrations transmitted from nearby construction, manufacturing, transportation systems or HVAC installations in the same buildings. Moreover, high prices of real estate in modern cities have propelled air-tight developments and compact construction which necessitate accommodation of large number of high speed production machinery, office complexes and sensitive machinery and equipments in the same buildings. Thus, mezzanine floors and upper floors are added as a cost-effective way to increase square footage not only for storage but also for production purposes. And of course, vibrations are present in all operations involving machines and motion due to inherent exciting forces. But, such excessive vibrations, may lead to structural and mechanical failures, frequent breakdown and maintenance of machines, human discomfort and noise. Hence, cost effective measures need to be taken to reduce the vibrations within acceptable limits.

DYNEMECH vibration dampeners provide lower natural frequency than the frequency of the suspended floor (generally, the natural frequency of the pads should less than half of the frequency of the suspended floor) so that resonance is avoided besides, decreasing vibration amplitudes.

Dynemech will need to know how much the machinery is shaking. Then based on the machine shaking and other factors affecting the structural vibrations, we have the task of designing the vibration isolators for the machinery to achieve the desired response on the roof.

We have successfully installed large industrial machines on mezzanine and upper floor including roof-tops:

CMM Vibration Isolation

CMMs have traditionally performed the quality assurance function in labs and gage rooms off of, or away from, the production floor. Today, however, we are hearing much more discussion about putting CMMs into the factory environment. The measuring speed and accuracy of Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM's) are improving every year. Newer CMM's are being designed and built which should function with repeatability right on the production floor.

Machining, stamping and other operations produce plenty of vibration, and those processes should be floor-isolated. Still, energy can find its way into the CMM as a source of errors, so some type of vibration isolation is needed. The production floor may have presses or hammers near the CMM, which produce massive vibrations and can lead to grossly inaccurate readings on the CMM. Vibration is one environmental factor which can compromise a CMM's accuracy and repeatability. Without compromising accuracy, CMM manufacturers provide their users with the maximum levels of vibration which their machines are capable of withstanding. Ideally, if all components of a CMM, including the part to be measured, were to vibrate in unison at a specific frequency, amplitude, phase and orientation, no degradation in measured performance would result.
When isolation is required, it is typically low frequency (less than 25 Hz) vibration that requires attenuation. Dynemech Systems has over 20 years experience in vibration isolation. They are specialists in CMMs, Dynamometers, Electron Microscopes, Metrology Equipment. Dynemech’s pneumatic isolators Series DRAS and Series DLPM provide significant vibration isolation for metrology equipment requiring low frequency vibration control. Series DRAS are ideal for low-cost metrology equipment where there is no sudden loading across the table. Series DLPM are auto-levelling pneumatic isolators which can sense the load placed on the table and automatically level the table surface. Both these models are highly suitable for low frequency vibration damping.
Additionally, in case there is excessive vibration, Dynemech can also provide complete turnkey solution for the construction for an Isolated Foundation. We will provide complete engineering drawings and specifications with installation procedures. Installation supervision at the site can be handled by our team of expert engineers.

Dynemech’s Spring Isolators with Viscous Damping

Dynemech’s Spring Isolators with Viscous Damping are ideal  for heavy presses, hammers, gen sets, rolling mills and all other machinery experiencing heavy vibrations which are getting transmitted to the structure. A spring isolator gives desired natural frequency to obtain phase difference in the frequencies for a rotating machine. Viscous Damping is an important feature of an isolation system. In most cases viscous damping is required to limit excessive movement which could occur as a machine operates at a speed near to, or coinciding with the resonant frequencies of the system. Generally this problem arises during slow run up and run down of rotating machines and during impact at each stroke in presses and hammers. This combination of Dynemech Spring Isolators and Viscous Dampers provides excellent shock absorption. Dynemech Systems manufacturers and supplies custom design spring isolators based on customer requirement and machine specifications.

The numerous benefits associated with the use Dynemech’s spring isolators are:
  • A MASSIVE reduction in the vibration in the works and the surrounding neighborhood.
  • Protection of machinery against external vibration.
  • Extends the service life of machines.
  • Complies with environmental constraints.
  • Combats foundation subsidence.
  • Reduced cost foundation.
  • Makes buildings and machinery safe from earthquakes.
  • Impact noise isolation.

Applications:
  • Power Presses
  • Forging Hammers
  • Fans, Blowers
  • Hammer and Rolling Mills
  • Centrifuges
  • Engine Test Beds
  • Textile Machines
  • Steam Turbines
  • Reducing Mills and Mixers
  • Coal and Stone Crushers
  • Refrigeration Units
  • Pumps and Boilers etc.
  • All types of heavy industrial machinery.

Dynemech’s Spring Isolators are constructed from heavy duty helical springs encased in heavy duty metal housings. They can be supplied as freestanding units with an elastomeric pad top and bottom to attenuate high frequency vibrations and provide good seating to contact surfaces. Bolt-on or grouted-in units as per the customers’ requirements are also available to special order. We are supplying Spring Isolators with viscous damping to numerous OEM manufacturers as a standard fitment for their machines. We are exporting Spring Isolators with viscous-damping to numerous overseas clients in Europe, Asia and Australia.

Drastic reduction in structural stresses and soil pressure are the key advantages of Dynemech’s Spring Isolators with viscous Damping besides providing long-term safety and life for the machine.
